Client/Industry: Electric Utility / Energy Infrastructure
Job Title: System Analyst III – Application Configuration Analyst
Location: 100% Remote [Preference for candidates local to Akron, OH for occasional onsite support] | Akron, OH 44320
Work Schedule/Shift: Mon-Fri | Minimum 40 work hours per week.
Duration/Length of Assignment: 2 year Long-term Contract (multi-year project engagement)
Pay Rate: $40.00 - $55.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Additional Information: Occasional flexibility in working hours may be required to support application availability and production needs. Preference for candidates able to support limited onsite activity if required by the project

Position Overview:
This position supports a large-scale IT Utility Systems initiative focused on asset management for electric transmission and distribution operations. The role sits within the Tx (Transmission) and Dx (Distribution) Products group, specifically supporting Asset Management Systems that enable operational reliability, data accuracy, and infrastructure lifecycle management. The team partners closely with internal business stakeholders to support a portfolio of custom-developed and vendor-supported applications critical to field operations and long-term asset planning. This role contributes to a special project initiative while also supporting ongoing system stability and enhancements. From a high-level perspective, the Application Configuration Analyst will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, supporting, and enhancing enterprise applications used across utility operations. The individual will work across the full application lifecycle, from requirements gathering and configuration through testing, deployment, and production support. Success in this role requires consistent collaboration with business users, participation in a distributed team environment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering reliable application functionality.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
  • Level II: Minimum 2–4 years of professional-level experience; Level III: Minimum 4–7 years of professional-level experience
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications through the full software development life cycle
  • Strong experience with relational databases, including advanced SQL skills such as writing stored procedures, triggers, scheduled jobs, and complex queries
  • Experience with Microsoft Server configuration and administration, including IIS, Windows Services, scheduled tasks, and related components
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze requirements, design solutions, configure applications, test functionality, and implement changes
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving issues in a production support environment
  • Ability to create and execute unit test plans, develop test cases, support integration testing, and complete system testing activities
  • Experience producing clear technical documentation for application configurations, enhancements, and support activities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and identify process improvements
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar systems, business processes, and technical concepts quickly
  • Experience working effectively with business stakeholders to gather requirements and support defect resolution
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and meet established schedules
  • Comfortable working independently while remaining effective in a remote, collaborative team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional team

Preferred Skills (Not Required):
  • Familiarity with database tools such as TOAD or SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Experience supporting asset management platforms such as DNV Cascade, Doble Powerbase, Hitachi Asset Performance Monitor (APM), or SEL Compass
  • Knowledge of Linux/UNIX operating systems
  • Experience working with Kubernetes clusters and application deployments
  • Application or system integration experience across enterprise platforms

Day to Day/Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze incoming business requirements related to asset management systems and application enhancements
  • Collaborate with business owners and stakeholders to understand operational workflows, data needs, and functional expectations
  • Configure and maintain application interfaces, vendor package applications, and reporting components to support transmission and distribution operations
  • Design and implement application changes that align with IT standards and broader technology direction
  • Leverage appropriate technologies and tools to meet defined requirements while ensuring system stability and performance
  • Develop and execute comprehensive unit testing, integration testing, and system testing to validate application functionality
  • Troubleshoot application defects and performance issues in production environments, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Provide ongoing production support for supported applications, including issue resolution and functional troubleshooting
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation covering configurations, enhancements, and support procedures
  • Coordinate software packaging requests as needed to support asset management applications
  • Manage source code repositories, including builds and deployments, to support controlled application releases
  • Learn and apply electric utility transmission and distribution business processes to better support system functionality
  • Continuously develop proficiency in supported software applications and related development tools
  • Participate actively in team collaboration, working with remote colleagues through virtual communication tools
  • Balance multiple tasks and priorities while consistently delivering accurate, high-quality work
  • Support application availability by maintaining flexibility in work hours when needed to address system issues or deployments
