Sr. Network Engineer
This is a standard 40-hour work week position with rare overtime required — the client places a strong emphasis on employees enjoying a healthy work-life balance with flex hours. The Sr. Network Engineer is a senior professional responsible for designing, implementing, and managing network solutions for on-premise and cloud environments. This role ensures the performance, security, and scalability of cloud-based networks, while integrating these solutions with existing on-premise systems, with a heavy emphasis on Zero Trust. The Sr. Network Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to support cloud infrastructure, automate network tasks, and optimize resources for cost-effectiveness while maintaining high availability and disaster recovery protocols.
Responsibilities
- Leads the development and maintenance of secure, scalable network architectures across cloud environments
- Drives the design of advanced cloud network strategies for enterprise-level applications and services
- Architects and manages hybrid cloud solutions, integrating on-premises systems with cloud infrastructures
- Oversees the implementation of security best practices, including advanced firewall configurations and Zero Trust frameworks
- Continuously monitors, troubleshoots, and optimizes cloud network performance for maximum uptime and efficiency
- Spearheads the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to automate network resource management and scaling
- Provides strategic oversight for analyzing and optimizing cloud network resources to reduce operational costs
- Designs and maintains disaster recovery solutions to ensure continuity of critical business functions during network failures
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope and responsibility of the job level and family
Qualifications
- Bachelor''''s degree or equivalent experience
- 5 years minimum prior relevant experience
Notes:
- Hands-on data center experience required
- Strong experience with routers (Cisco and/or Fortinet preferred) and switches
- Azure Cloud experience
- Experience writing Ansible/Terraform code
- Candidates coming from mid-size companies are preferred
