Summary

DMS/EMS/SCADA Analyst

Introduction:

As a DMS/EMS/SCADA Analyst, you will provide technical support for computer Energy Management Systems (EMS) or Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and other technical infrastructure used in Transmission Operations centers. This role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, along with technical skills in data analysis and systems monitoring.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and guidance to less qualified analysts on problem resolution
  • Train lower-level analysts in specific equipment and software support activities
  • Maintain reliable operations of EMS and SCADA systems
  • Improve the quality and reliability of EMS and SCADA data and related services
  • Maintain real-time data interfaces
  • Develop, improve, and implement EMS and SCADA tools and software
  • Keep EMS and SCADA tools up-to-date with current technologies
  • Build and maintain custom EMS and SCADA one-line displays
  • Perform modeling, check-out, and commissioning of Remote Terminal Units
  • Define and implement internal EMS and SCADA standards
  • Implement Human Performance Initiative rules and Key Performance Indicators around SCADA processes

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in SCADA, preferably in a utility environment
  • Experience working with Remote Terminal Units (RTU) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Distribution Management Systems (DMS)
  • Experience with Element Management Systems

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding of operational practices of applicable equipment and software
  • Strong communication, issue resolution, organization, and facilitation skills
  • Experience with SCADA systems
  • Ability to provide after-hours support for EMS/SCADA systems
  • Understanding of current technology utilized by clients and its application to SCADA
  • Basic knowledge of Protection and Control applications and their impact on SCADA
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the field with guidance from senior team members
