Role Overview
This role involves providing technical support for Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems within transmission operations. The position requires adaptability, a focus on meeting customer needs, and a commitment to the continuous improvement of supported systems. The analyst will also assist with standards development, scoping, setting creation, and troubleshooting for Protection and Control Engineering (PCE) SCADA activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain reliable operations of EMS and SCADA systems.
- Provide support and guidance on problem resolution.
- Train other analysts in specific equipment and software support activities.
- Develop, improve, and implement EMS and SCADA tools and software.
- Build and maintain custom EMS and SCADA one-line displays and models.
- Perform modeling, check-out, and commissioning of Remote Terminal Units (RTU).
- Scope small to medium SCADA projects with limited supervision.
- Complete complex RTU configurations for both new and legacy systems.
- Support stakeholders with common SCADA-related issues.
- Assist higher-level team members with SCADA compliance items.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with zero years of experience, or an Associate's Degree with two years of relevant experience.
Experience: Experience with SCADA systems is required, preferably within the utility industry. Experience with Remote Terminal Units (RTU) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) is also necessary.
Technical Skills: A detailed understanding of operational practices for applicable equipment and software is required. The ability to perform troubleshooting and problem resolution is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Networking skills are considered helpful.
- A solid understanding of business unit or operating company systems is preferred.
