THIS IS A 3RD SHIFT POSITION, MONDAY-FRIDAY: NIGHTS (MIDNIGHT - 8AM), ROTATING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYSGeneral FunctionThe position is responsible for monitoring and supporting mainframe, open systems, and server backup production schedules and workflow processes. This includes troubleshooting operational issues, resolving problems, and escalating when necessary to ensure
Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met. The role also assists with deploying new software across test and production environments.
The position is accountable for identifying and managing risk by sharing ideas, raising concerns, and adhering to established policies and procedures. The role supports a positive customer experience by consistently acting with integrity and ensuring that actions align with the organization's risk appetite and operational standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Monitor, support, and troubleshoot production schedules and workflows, including failures, performance degradation, and dependency issues, using various monitoring tools.
- Triage routine issues and take corrective actions to maintain system availability and minimize downtime.
- Ensure production schedules are completed on time and that issues are properly controlled and documented.
- Follow established operating procedures and recommend improvements to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
- Develop a thorough understanding of production schedules, job flows, and service-level deadlines.
- Resolve moderately complex processing issues and delays.
- Complete checklists and turnover logs to support audit and compliance requirements.
- Assist with troubleshooting remote file and data transmission issues.
- Analyze recurring problems and recommend improvements to senior technicians or management.
- Assist in maintaining technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Provide daily support to end users and programming teams.
- Expand technical knowledge through daily responsibilities and available learning resources.
- Collaborate with senior staff and team members to complete assigned work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 1-3 years of equivalent work experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Tape Storage Management (TSM) or similar backup software.
- Working knowledge of automated mainframe or open systems scheduling tools, preferably IBM Tivoli.
- Experience with multiple hardware and software environments, such as Windows, UNIX, MVS, IBM mainframe, JES2, and monitoring tools.
- Dependability and flexibility to work weekends and holidays in a 247 environment
