Building Automation / HVAC Controls TechnicianPosition OverviewTEKsytems is seeking experienced Building Automation / HVAC Controls Technicians to support large, multi-site data center projects in the greater Charlotte area. These roles support mission-critical infrastructure.
This is a hands-on field role requiring strong technical skills, commissioning experience, and comfort working in active construction environments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform hands-on installation and point-to-point (P2P) checkout, including 5-point analog testing
- Execute field functional testing to verify sequences of operation and system performance
- Connect laptops to control panels and operate through BAS graphics and interfaces
- Support witnessed testing and commissioning activities with third-party commissioning agents
- Troubleshoot controls hardware, software, and field device issues
- Read and interpret MEP drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and sequences of operation
- Coordinate daily activities with electrical, mechanical, and general contractors
- Accurately maintain P2P checklists, test sheets, commissioning documentation, and backups
- Travel between multiple project sites as construction phases progress
Required Qualifications- 3-5+ years of hands-on Building Automation / HVAC Controls field experience
- Experience with Niagara N4 (certification or formal training strongly preferred)
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, control strategies, and BAS architectures
- Proven experience in testing, checkout, and commissioning support
- Ability to read and follow MEP drawings and control schematics
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Basic networking skills, including IP addressing and controller connectivity
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude
- OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification (strongly preferred due to site requirements)
Additional Skills & Experience - Calibration experience using tools such as manometers, temperature/RH calibrators, and signal generators
- Familiarity with Niagara N4 interfaces, graphics navigation, and field-level logic
- Experience supporting data center or mission-critical facilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with commissioning agents and project leadership
- Stable work history with demonstrated long-term commitment
Work Environment & Schedule- Fully onsite role
- Physically active construction environment requiring walking large sites, climbing ladders, and working in mechanical spaces
- Extended hours expected, with schedules frequently reaching 6 10s (60 hours/week) during peak construction and commissioning periods

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
