SQL Server Administrator

6+ Month Contract Position

Location - Remote (will work CST hours)

Our client is looking to add a SQL Server DBA that will perform advanced performance tuning and optimization of SQL Server databases to ensure optimal query performance and resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of highly available and scalable SQL Server environments using AlwaysOn Availability Groups, database replication, and other high-availability features.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to design and implement SQL Server configurations that align with organizational standards and best practices.
• Provide expert-level support for SQL Server database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, security, and troubleshooting.
• Implement monitoring, indexing, and query optimization techniques tailored to each environment. Adjust strategies based on the specific characteristics and capabilities of on-premise and cloud services.
• Design and manage disaster recovery plans encompassing on-premise and cloud databases. Ensure high availability and minimal data loss in the event of failure.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior member(s) of the DBA team, sharing best practices and technical expertise.
• Stay well-informed of emerging technologies and industry trends in SQL Server database administration, Azure services, and cloud computing.
• Configure and maintain Azure SQL Database instances, including provisioning, monitoring, and optimizing performance in the cloud environment.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Experience working in managed service environments.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• 8+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator
• Expertise in performance tuning and optimization of SQL Server databases, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and resource management.
• Hands-on experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups, database replication, and other high-availability technologies.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database administration, including provisioning, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of SQL Server configuration best practices and ability to implement and maintain complex database configurations.
• Experience with TSM backup solutions is a plus.
• Familiarity with Manage Engine Monitoring tools is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The anticipated hourly rate range for this position is ($48-50/hr). Actual hourly rate will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law.
