We are seeking a Digital Signage / ESL Template Designer to lead the transformation of paper based store signage into structured, scalable digital templates for electronic shelf labels. This is not a traditional graphic design, marketing, or branding role. It is a specialized design production position focused on template accuracy, data driven layout behavior, and real world usability in retail environments. You will work directly with operations and design partners to ensure templates are visually consistent, data flexible, and reliable when deployed in stores.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary expert converting legacy paper signage into standardized digital templates.
Rebuild and modernize layouts using an internal WYSIWYG design tool similar to Figma or PowerPoint.
Connect template elements to dynamic data fields such as product names, prices, and promotional indicators.
Test template behavior across varied data scenarios, including long and short text, price variations, and formatting edge cases.
Ensure readability, alignment, and brand consistency through detailed visual quality checks on ESL devices.
Collaborate with store operations teams to review, test, and validate templates in real retail environments.
Incorporate operational feedback to refine templates and improve clarity, usability, and consistency.
Required Qualifications
Experience converting physical or print based designs into digital formats.
Proficiency with visual layout tools such as Figma, PowerPoint, Illustrator, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of spacing, alignment, visual hierarchy, and structured layout design.
Ability to build reusable templates that remain consistent when content changes.
Understanding of variable data concepts and how dynamic information affects design behavior.
Ability to anticipate and test for edge cases in data driven layouts.
Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with operational or non design partners.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with retail signage, electronic shelf labels, or in store digital displays.
Familiarity with design systems, component based design, or template libraries.
Experience working in retail, store operations, or fast paced production environments.
