APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Research, architect, and develop complex software solutions for HomeKit accessories, including HomePod, Apple TV, and emerging smart home platforms. Drive technical strategy and roadmap planning in collaboration with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners while serving as a technical authority for critical architectural decisions that impact multiple product lines and millions of users. Partner with executive leadership, product management, and engineering directors to define long-term technical vision and drive cross-organizational initiatives spanning device platforms, services, and developer tools. Apply deep expertise in systems programming, distributed architectures, and modern languages including Swift, Objective-C, and C++ to solve complex technical challenges in real-time embedded systems and cloud-scale services. Lead the design and implementation of next-generation network protocols, security frameworks, and developer APIs that define industry standards and customer experiences across Apple's ecosystem. Mentor and develop engineering talent at all levels, establishing technical standards and best practices while fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence throughout the organization. Serve as the subject matter expert for HomeKit architecture, providing technical guidance on critical production issues, performance optimization, and system reliability across multiple engineering teams. Represent Apple's technical interests with industry standards bodies, key partners, and the broader developer community while driving adoption of HomeKit technologies and contributing to the advancement of smart home industry standards. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $187,741 - $272,100/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. \n\nPAY & BENEFITS: Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.\nExperience and/or education must include:\n\nUtilizing object-oriented languages including C++ and Objective C for the development and maintenance of new and existing features; for comprehension of existing code base; and to provide feedback to peers during code reviews.\nSupporting software development throughout the project lifecycle, including design, development, unit and integration testing, debugging and enhancement. \nComputer science fundamentals including understanding multi-threading, memory management, networking, wireless technologies, protocols, and distributed system architecture. \nProposing solutions and designs which consider time, memory, or power constraints including computational complexity, understanding of operating systems concepts that contribute to application performance and scalability. \nTriaging complex issues and proposing solutions for bugs found in software code which include but are not limited to functional bugs, logic errors, and performance tuning. \nLeading moderately sized (5-10 people) project teams to develop features including coordination and facilitation of design discussions to flesh out use cases, technical requirements, cross-device and interprocess communication flows and outlining testing requirements.\nServing as the domain expert for responsible areas of code or features by providing detailed technical documentation for the feature or code design to proactively assist with answering technical questions in given responsible area, participate in discussions as the domain expert to guide technical discussions that may impact or be impacted by responsible area, and implement and maintain metrics to monitor the performance of responsible area.\nMentoring junior team members with respect to codebase, coding practices, problem-solving techniques, and design principles.
