Description
We are looking for an experienced Security Network Engineer to support and strengthen a data center environment in California. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for a senior specialist who brings deep expertise in secure network operations, infrastructure monitoring, and enterprise firewall administration. The role focuses on maintaining a reliable, high-performing network across a smaller infrastructure footprint while partnering with teams that operate during Pacific Time hours.
Responsibilities:
Manage and optimize secure network infrastructure across data center switching, routing, and firewall platforms.
Administer firewall environments and centralized policy management tools to maintain strong security controls and network availability.
Monitor network performance and security events, identify issues proactively, and drive timely resolution of incidents.
Support day-to-day operations for a compact but critical infrastructure environment with a focus on stability and efficiency.
Implement configuration changes, upgrades, and troubleshooting activities across core networking components.
Use network monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds to track health, capacity, and performance trends.
Contribute technical expertise on Cisco-based environments, including Nexus platforms where applicable.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and remote teams to ensure dependable support coverage during Pacific Time business hours.
Requirements
10+ years of experience in network engineering with a strong emphasis on security-focused infrastructure.
Proven background supporting data center switching, routing, and enterprise firewall technologies.
Hands-on experience with firewall administration and centralized management platforms such as Panorama or comparable tools.
Strong monitoring and operational support experience in production network environments.
Working knowledge of SolarWinds for network visibility, alerting, and performance analysis.
Familiarity with Cisco technologies, including CCNA or CCIE-level expertise.
Experience with Cisco Nexus is highly preferred.
Ability to work effectively with teams aligned to Pacific Time hours; remote flexibility may be considered.
