Role: DB2 Database Administrator
Location: Olympia, WA (Remote with Travel)

Role Summary:
The DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of IBM DB2 databases. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of enterprise database systems while supporting application teams and business operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
5 10 years of experience in database administration, with strong expertise in DB2 LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows).
Proficiency in SQL query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
Knowledge of Oracle Database and Linux commands.
Experience with data integration, migration, and disaster recovery planning.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 environments across Linux/Unix/Windows platforms.
Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries.
Design and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data.
Manage user roles, privileges, and access controls to maintain database security.
Collaborate with developers and system administrators to support application deployments.
Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Perform database migrations, patches, and version upgrades.
Document processes, configurations, and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
IBM DB2 certification.
Exposure to cloud-based DB2 deployments.
Familiarity with automation tools for database management.
Competencies:
Ability to manage enterprise-scale DB2 environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Detail-oriented with a focus on reliability and efficiency.
Risks & Challenges:
Managing performance bottlenecks in high-volume environments.
Ensuring robust backup and recovery to prevent data loss.
Maintaining strict security controls to avoid vulnerabilities.
Handling high-pressure situations during outages or migrations.
