Data Operations Lead
Contract: 6-12 months (with potential extension)

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Operations & Service Management Lead to oversee day-to-day data operations across enterprise data platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring data quality, governance, operational reliability, and workflow efficiency while acting as a Scrum Master and key liaison between business stakeholders, product owners, and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
Data Operations & Service Management
  • Own and manage end-to-end data operations across data platforms, warehouses, lakes, and analytics systems
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of data pipelines and reporting solutions
  • Establish, track, and manage SLAs, KPIs, and operational metrics for data services
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and resolution of data-related issues
  • Oversee production support, release coordination, and operational readiness activities
Data Governance & Quality
  • Drive data quality initiatives including monitoring, validation, reconciliation, and remediation
  • Enforce data governance standards, policies, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with governance teams on data lineage, metadata management, and data stewardship
Stakeholder & Business Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders on data operations matters
  • Translate business priorities into actionable operational execution plans
  • Provide regular reporting on operational status, risks, and performance to leadership
  • Support business-critical reporting, regulatory submissions, and executive dashboards
Team & Delivery Leadership
  • Lead and mentor data operations, platform, and support teams (onshore and offshore)
  • Act as Scrum Master and facilitate scrum ceremonies and agile workflows
  • Coordinate with data engineering, BI, cloud, and platform teams
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation and operational efficiency
  • Support vendor and partner management as needed
Required Skills & Experience
Data & Technology
  • Strong experience managing enterprise data platforms (Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Analytics platforms)
  • Solid understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and BI/reporting ecosystems
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform)
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot data issues
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and operational support tools
  • Understanding of data security, access controls, and compliance requirements
Operations & Governance
  • Proven experience in Data Operations, Data Support, or Platform Operations roles
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL / Service Management (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
  • Experience defining and managing SLAs, OLAs, and operational KPIs
  • Exposure to data governance frameworks, data quality programs, and audit processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other enterprise reporting platforms
  • Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse, or similar modern data platforms
  • Experience with automation, DevOps, and CI/CD for data platforms
  • Familiarity with Agile and SAFe delivery models
  • Domain experience in Insurance, Banking, or Financial Services
