Data Modeler with strong
Insurance domain expertise to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level data models. This role supports underwriting, policy administration, claims, billing, and analytics initiatives. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to translate complex insurance requirements into scalable, compliant data models.
Key Responsibilities- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for insurance systems and data platforms
- Partner with business analysts, underwriters, actuaries, claims, billing, and IT teams to gather and refine data requirements
- Model core insurance entities including Policy, Coverage, Risk, Claim, Exposure, Party, Billing, and Reinsurance
- Support data modeling for transactional systems, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and data governance policies
- Define data definitions, business rules, relationships, and metadata
- Support data integration, migration, and modernization initiatives (including legacy-to-cloud transformations)
- Review and optimize data models for performance, scalability, and data quality
- Collaborate with data engineers and developers during implementation
- Participate in design reviews, impact analysis, and documentation
Required Qualifications Technical Skills
- Strong experience in Data Modeling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical)
- Proficiency with data modeling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, Sparx EA, or similar
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas)
- Experience with data integration and ETL processes
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus
Insurance Domain Expertise (Mandatory)
- Hands-on experience in Property & Casualty (P&C), Life, Annuity, or Reinsurance
- Strong understanding of:
- Policy lifecycle (Quote ? Bind ? Issue ? Endorse ? Renew)
- Claims lifecycle and financials
- Billing and invoicing processes
- Reinsurance structures
- Familiarity with insurance platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, Sapiens, or similar is highly desirable
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with data governance, data lineage, and metadata management
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance reporting in the insurance industry
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Exposure to analytics, reporting, or AI/ML use cases
- Strong SQL skills for data validation and analysis
Soft Skills- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to translate business concepts into technical data structures
- Experience working in global delivery models
Education- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
