About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, and JCL to join our client’s team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mainframe application development, batch and online processing, and database integration. This is a scenario-based problem-solving role where you will work on complex business applications and ensure efficient data processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL.
- Write and optimize DB2 SQL queries, including stored procedures and cursors.
- Create and manage JCL scripts for batch job execution.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes.
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, data integrity, and system performance best practices.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in COBOL programming (batch and online).
- Hands-on experience with DB2 and writing efficient SQL queries.
- Proficiency in JCL for scheduling and managing batch jobs.
- Knowledge of mainframe environments, TSO/ISPF, and debugging tools (e.g., File-AID, Xpediter).
- Experience with file handling, error handling, and performance optimization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and scenario-based troubleshooting.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with CICS, VSAM, or MQ Series.
- Familiarity with Agile or waterfall project methodologies.
