Job Description

We are seeking a Sr. Mainframe Consultant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Db2 for z/OS administration, performance tuning, and replication technologies and a proven ability to own complex production issues, deliver reliable upgrades and migrations, and optimize system and application performance.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Db2 for z/OS subsystems.


• Apply maintenance and fixes using SMP/E.


• Administer production and non-production Db2 databases.


• Execute and optimize Db2 utilities, including REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER, LOAD, and REBUILD INDEX.


• Monitor and tune Db2 subsystems, SQL, buffer pools, locking, logging, storage, and application performance.


• Support backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster-recovery testing.


• Troubleshoot production incidents and perform root-cause analysis.


• Support Q Replication, SQL Replication, Change Data Capture, and Db2 Connect.


• Collaborate with application, CICS, storage, security, and z/OS infrastructure teams.


• Follow ITIL incident, problem, change, and release-management processes.


• Maintain technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures.


• Participate in rotational on-call and scheduled after-hours support.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Expertise with Db2 for z/OS, including subsystem administration and utilities.


• Proficiency with z/OS, MVS, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and JES2/JES3.


• Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, RACF, DFSMS, and SMP/E.


• Strong SQL and experience with one or more of COBOL, REXX, CLIST, SAS, or Assembler.


• Hands-on experience with Q Replication, SQL Replication, and Change Data Capture.


• Knowledge of Db2 Connect and Informatica PowerExchange.


• Familiarity with performance and monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON, IntelliMagic, MXG, BMC MainView, Apptune, Query Monitor, TMON, Strobe, or Db2PM.


• Experience with TWS/OPC, SA z/OS, and NetView.


• 5+ years in relevant roles.

Preferred Skills:

• Advanced performance tuning and recovery expertise in Db2 for z/OS.


• Experience leading upgrades, migrations, and complex production issue resolution.

Proposed Senior-Level Differentiation:

• 10-12+ years of relevant Db2 for z/OS experience.


• Independent ownership of subsystem administration, upgrades, migrations, and complex production issues.


• Advanced performance tuning and recovery expertise.


• Technical leadership, client communication, mentoring, and project ownership.


• Serves as the escalation point for high-severity incidents.
