Werner Consulting Group LLC (WCG) is a Denver based IT consulting and placement firm. We have a client looking for a full remote Release Train Engineer for the position shown below. This is a long term contract position expected to go through January 2028 and could extend beyond that as well.
About the Role: Client is seeking a dynamic Certified Agile Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead a (USD)30M, multi-year data transformation initiative involving cutting-edge technology and AI. You will orchestrate delivery across 14 Agile teams, serving as an Agile Coach to guide the business through transformation. In addition to program-level release planning and dependency management, you will act as the dedicated Scrum Master for our architecture and engineering team.
Core Responsibilities:
Release Management & Coordination: Schedule, plan, and control the release lifecycle. Drive cross-team coordination, manage dependencies, conduct release readiness reviews, and collaborate with 3rd-party vendors and internal IT departments.
Architecture Scrum Master: Lead Agile ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Refinement, Review, Retrospective) for the architecture team. Remove blockers, manage team capacity, and ensure predictable sprint delivery.
Agile Coaching: Promote team health, self-organization, and continuous improvement. Facilitate Agile adoption, PI Planning, and Scrum of Scrums (SoS) across the enterprise.
Tracking & Metrics: Maintain a single source of truth for delivery tracking. Develop dashboards and publish standardized Agile metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown) using Jira and Confluence to drive transparency.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
5+ years of experience as a Release Train Engineer, with previous experience as a Scrum Master managing multiple teams.
Certified Agile Release Train Engineer and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) preferred.
Deep expertise in release management, risk mitigation, and coordinating cross-team dependencies.
Hands-on proficiency with Agile lifecycle management tools (Jira, Confluence, and reporting dashboards).
Flexible mindset with the ability to support monthly releases in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.
Nice to have: Previous experience managing 3rd-party vendors and formal Agile Coach experience
