Data Scientist Professional

Location: McLean, Virginia (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Quantitative Analytics Professional for the Multi-Family Division. This role is responsible for the development and execution of statistical models and applications that support business and risk decisions. The position is a critical part of developing robust and interpretable models for portfolio risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop analytical methods and models related to the collateral underlying the mortgages in the portfolio.
  • Conduct research on enhancements to existing models and apply industry-standard processes.
  • Provide detailed and practical solutions to a range of demanding problems.
  • Implement statistical models in efficient software languages and code model prototypes for test cases.
  • Coordinate testing through model implementation, conduct back-tests to monitor model performance, and perform stress tests to validate forecast results.
  • Provide modeling and analytical support to a line of business or product area.
  • Prepare documentation for technical analytics and rationale to comply with model oversight and support model review for approval.
  • Work under limited direction to independently resolve issues and develop solutions.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Master's degree in quantitative finance, statistics, economics, or a related quantitative field is required.

Experience: 0-2 years of equivalent work experience is required. Candidates must have experience with modeling, including model testing and model development. Hands-on experience is crucial.

Technical Skills: Coursework or work experience applying predictive modeling techniques from finance, statistics, mathematics, data science, or computer programming to large data sets. Experience writing statistical or optimization programs in languages such as SAS, Python, R, SQL, or MATLAB is necessary. Experience working with large data sets and relational databases is also required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in statistical model development and implementation is preferred.
  • Experience with software development and system setup for model application is preferred.
