Data Scientist Senior

Location: McLean, Virginia (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Quantitative Analytics Senior for our client's Multi-Family Division. This position is responsible for the development and execution of statistical models and applications to support business and risk decisions as a member of the Multifamily Modeling Team. This role is critical to advancing the mission of making homeownership and rental housing more accessible by developing robust models for portfolio risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop analytical methods and models concerning the collateral underlying the mortgages in the portfolio.
  • Conduct research on enhancements to existing models and apply industry-standard processes to meet business needs.
  • Provide innovative and practical solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Implement statistical models in efficient software languages, code model prototypes, and modify source codes in existing applications.
  • Coordinate testing through model implementation, conduct back-tests to monitor model performance, and perform stress tests to validate forecast results.
  • Provide modeling and analytical support to a line of business or product area, functioning as a day-to-day technical specialist.
  • Prepare documentation for the technical analytics and rationale throughout model development to comply with oversight and support model review for approval.
  • Work under limited direction, independently resolving issues and developing solutions.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Master's degree in quantitative finance, statistics, economics, or a related quantitative field is required. A Doctorate is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in model testing and model development is required. Overall, 3-5 years of equivalent work experience is expected. Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience and possess a strong quantitative background.

Technical Skills: Coursework or work experience writing statistical or optimization programs using languages such as SAS, Python, R, SQL, and MATLAB. Experience with large data sets and relational databases is necessary. Applicants should have experience applying predictive modeling techniques from finance, statistics, mathematics, data science, or computer programming to large data sets.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in statistical model development and implementation.
  • Experience with software development and system setup for model application.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytics skills.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical models, tools, and techniques.
  • Strong programming and communication skills.
