Appian Developer – Senior Level (8+ Years)

Role Summary

The Senior Appian Developer is responsible for leading the design and delivery of complex Appian BPM and Case Management solutions supporting enterprise‑scale agent onboarding, operations, compliance, and servicing platforms. This role drives solution quality, performance, scalability, and standards while mentoring developers and collaborating closely with business, architecture, and delivery leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Solution Design

  • Lead architecture, design, and development of complex Appian BPM and Case Management solutions
  • Design and govern case lifecycles, SLA models, exception handling, auditability, and regulatory traceability
  • Establish and enforce Appian development standards, frameworks, and best practices
  • Review solution designs and code for performance, scalability, security, and reusability
  • Drive optimization of Appian applications through refactoring, modularization, and performance tuning

Development & Integration

  • Design and develop:
  • Appian Process Models, SAIL interfaces, Expression & Decision Rules
  • Records, Reports, Dashboards, and Case Management components
  • Lead integration design using REST/SOAP services, Appian connectors, and external systems (CRM, identity, data platforms)
  • Oversee data modeling using CDTs, Data Stores, Records, and relational databases
  • Support deployment strategies, release readiness, and production stability

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable Appian solutions
  • Mentor and guide intermediate and junior Appian developers
  • Collaborate with Architects, QA, DevOps, and Product Owners across multi‑squad SAFe delivery models
  • Provide technical estimations, solution approaches, and delivery risk mitigation

 

Mandatory Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of hands‑on experience with Appian BPM development
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Appian Process Automation and Case Management
  • SAIL UI/UX design for enterprise applications
  • Appian Security (roles, groups, object‑level security)
  • Performance tuning and Appian design best practices
  • Extensive experience with REST/SOAP integrations
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Proven experience delivering solutions across the full SDLC in Agile / SAFe environments

 

Good to Have

  • Appian Senior / Lead Developer Certification
  • Experience with insurance, financial services, or regulated domains
  • Exposure to Appian RPA, AI Skills, or IDP
  • Experience with Java plugins, custom smart services
  • CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments (AWS / Azure)
  • Strong understanding of audit, compliance, and regulatory design considerations

 

Supervision & Scope

  • Operates under overall program and architecture governance
  • Provides technical guidance and mentoring to developers
  • No people‑management ownership, but technical leadership and review responsibilities
