Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, technically strong analyst who combines Power BI development, Power Automate workflow design, Azure and SharePoint administration, and application support. This is a power user plus automation developer plus application support role within Oil and Gas, not a general IT position. You will partner with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into reliable dashboards, automated workflows, and well-supported applications that improve safety, production, and field efficiency.
Top Skills Needed
- Strong Power BI and Power Automate expertise as a core skillset
- Solid Azure and SharePoint technical experience
- Oil and Gas domain experience across production, wells, SCADA, land, and HSE data
- Strong application support and cross-functional coordination skills
- Analytical mindset with self-sufficiency in a lean team
What You Will Do
- Own application support end to end
- Provide Tier II and Tier III support for business applications used by local and remote users. Troubleshoot incidents, resolve defects, train users, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Deliver BI solutions with Power BI
- Build data models with multiple tables and relationships, author DAX, and optimize performance, refresh schedules, and gateways. Integrate common O and G sources such as production and well data, SCADA feeds, land, and HSE systems.
- Automate processes with Power Automate
- Design, build, and maintain flows using triggers, conditions, loops, approvals, and connectors for SharePoint, Excel, SQL, and relevant APIs. Focus on real business outcomes and reliability.
- Leverage Azure services
- Work with Azure AD for identities and permissions, Azure Storage for data sources, and Logic Apps when appropriate to support reporting, automation, and application workflows.
- Build on SharePoint
- Structure lists and libraries, design permissions and governance, integrate with Power BI and Power Automate, and manage sites as needed for data capture and collaboration.
- Integrate applications and manage vendors
- Support integrations, understand infrastructure interactions, and coordinate with vendors to resolve issues beyond internal expertise. Track roadmaps and recommend improvements that drive efficiency.
- Operate with strong controls
- Follow change control, write and execute test plans, document results, obtain approvals, and monitor change impact. Support SOX-related internal controls and audits in partnership with IT Compliance.
- Document thoroughly
- Maintain architecture diagrams, data flows, application guides, support manuals, run books, and roadmaps.
What You Bring
- 6 or more years providing direct Tier II and Tier III application support for business applications.
- 5 or more years working with Microsoft SQL Server 2018 or later, SQL scripting, ODBC, DNS, TCP/IP, and Windows OS.
- Deep, hands-on Power BI experience including multi-table modeling, DAX, relationships, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on Power Automate experience building production-grade flows with approvals, conditions, and connectors.
- Practical Azure experience across Azure AD, Azure Storage, and Logic Apps is strongly preferred.
- SharePoint experience using lists as data sources, permissions and governance, site administration, and integration with Power BI and Power Automate.
- Oil and Gas applications support experience is a strong plus, for example W Energy, Enverus, Quorum, Peloton (WellView, SiteView), Avocet, Energy Components, Aries, or similar.
- Experience with reporting tools such as SSRS, Spotfire, and Crystal Reports
- Excellent communication, logical problem solving, understanding of change management, and basic project management. Self-reliant, motivated, and effective in a dynamic team.
Success Looks Like
- Reliable, well-modeled Power BI solutions used by operations and leadership with on-time refreshes and strong performance
- Automated workflows that reduce manual work, shorten cycle times, and improve data quality
