Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Power BI Developer to join our Business Intelligence team in the energy sector. You will design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports that drive operational decisions across the organization. You will work closely with data engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate complex data into clear, actionable visuals.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy Power BI reports, dashboards, and paginated reports for business stakeholders.
Write DAX measures and calculated columns to support complex business logic and KPI tracking.
Build and maintain Power Query (M) transformations and data models within Power BI Desktop and the Power BI Service.
Connect Power BI to data sources including Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, SQL Server, SharePoint, and flat files.
Manage and optimize semantic models (datasets) in the Power BI Service, including scheduled refreshes and gateway configuration.
Troubleshoot report refresh failures, gateway errors, and data source connectivity issues.
Collaborate with data engineers on Microsoft Fabric pipelines and lakehouse architecture to ensure clean, reliable data for BI consumption.
Partner with business analysts and subject matter experts to gather requirements and translate them into dashboard specifications.
Maintain row-level security (RLS), workspace governance, and deployment pipelines (Dev/Test/Prod).
Document data models, report logic, and DAX formulas for team knowledge sharing
3+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience.
Strong proficiency in DAX (calculated measures, time intelligence, filter context).
Experience with Power Query / M language for data transformation.
Solid understanding of relational data modeling (star schema, snowflake schema).
Ability to write intermediate to advanced SQL queries for data extraction and validation.
Experience connecting Power BI to cloud and on-premises data sources via gateways.
Familiarity with Power BI Service administration: workspaces, apps, capacity, row-level security.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Fabric (lakehouses, OneLake, Fabric pipelines, Direct Lake mode).
Exposure to Azure Data Factory or similar ETL/pipeline tooling.
Background in the energy, utilities, or oil & gas industry.
Microsoft certifications: PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) or DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer).
Experience with Python or R for data prep feeding into Power BI.
