Description: TEKsystems is seeking a highly skilled
Atlassian Developer to design, build, and optimize advanced solutions across the Atlassian ecosystem. This role is focused on
technical development, customization, integration, and automation of
Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management. The Atlassian Developer will work closely with engineering, operations, and process stakeholders to transform requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure Atlassian-based applications. This includes building custom Jira workflows, creating plugins/apps, developing automation scripts, designing Confluence integrations, and extending Atlassian functionality through REST APIs and code-based solutions. Candidates must demonstrate strong development capability-particularly in Java, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, SQL/JQL, and API-based integrations-and must be able to work independently on complex technical challenges. Experience supporting defense-related engineering or acquisition environments is highly desired, especially for candidates with background in the
U.S. Space Force or
U.S. Air Force.
Responsibilities- Design, build, and deploy custom Jira workflows, post functions, validators, conditions, and automation logic
- Develop custom Atlassian plugins/apps using Java, JavaScript, and Atlassian SDK frameworks
- Create customized Confluence macros, templates, and integrations
- Extend Atlassian tools via REST APIs, webhooks, and custom integrations
- Develop reusable scripts using JQL, SQL, Groovy, Python, or JavaScript
- Build advanced dashboards, custom fields, and reporting structures
- Support version control and CI/CD practices using Git or similar repositories
- Integrate Atlassian products with external tools, systems, and databases
- Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize system configurations
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous integration and development processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and convert them into technical solutions
- Provide documentation, diagrams, and technical explanations for developed solutions
Required Skills & Experience- 5+ years of hands-on Atlassian development experience
- Advanced experience customizing and extending:
- Jira
- Confluence
- Jira Service Management
- Strong development capability in:
- Java
- JavaScript
- HTML/CSS
- SQL & JQL
- Python (preferred but optional)
- 5+ years working with REST APIs (Jira/Confluence)
- Experience with Atlassian automation frameworks and scripting tools
- Strong understanding of Agile, DevSecOps, and software engineering principles
- Experience using Git, branching models, and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to translate complex technical requirements into functioning code
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly Desired Experience- Experience supporting the U.S. Space Force or U.S. Air Force
- Experience in secure or DoD-adjacent development environments
- Knowledge of digital engineering pipelines, acquisition workflows, or program management processes
- Familiarity with Atlassian Data Center administration or cloud migrations
- Experience with infrastructure concepts (networking, authentication, security fundamentals)
- Certified Atlassian Developer or other Atlassian certifications
- Experience developing custom Confluence macros or UI components
- Hands-on experience developing solutions for the U.S. Space Force or U.S. Air Force is highly desired, particularly in environments involving secure systems, acquisition workflows, or digital engineering toolchains.

- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (with potential upgrade to TS)
- Ability to travel up to 25%

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
