Job Title: S/4HANA Brownfield Migration Solution Architect (ABAP Focused)

Location : WI (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced S/4HANA Brownfield Migration Solution Architect with a strong foundation in ABAP development and technical architecture, to lead complex ECC to S/4HANA system conversions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Brownfield Conversion Strategy & Architecture

Define end-to-end S/4HANA system conversion (brownfield) strategy
Assess current ECC landscape and recommend conversion approach, sequencing, and risk mitigation
Lead architecture decisions across custom code, integrations, and data structures
Collaborate with functional and business stakeholders to align technical strategy with business priorities

2. Custom Code Remediation Leadership

Own and drive custom code adaptation strategy (SPAU, SPDD, ATC, CVI, simplification items)
Define approach for:
- Code remediation vs. retirement vs. redesign
- Use of automation tools (e.g., AI-assisted remediation, ATC frameworks)
Ensure adherence to Clean Core and extensibility principles (In-App / Side-by-Side on BTP)

3. Technical Workstream Leadership

Lead key technical workstreams:
- Custom code remediation
- Interface remediation (IDocs, APIs, middleware)
- Enhancements and modifications redesign
- Data consistency and technical validation
Work closely with Basis team but not dependent on Basis execution (clear separation of responsibilities)

4. S/4HANA Architecture & Extensibility

Define target-state architecture leveraging:
- S/4HANA data model simplifications
- CDS views, AMDP, and modern ABAP
- SAP Fiori enablement
Guide teams on:
- Transition from classic ABAP to ABAP for HANA
- Usage of BTP for side-by-side extensions

5. Governance & Quality Assurance

Establish technical governance frameworks
Conduct design and code reviews
Ensure compliance with:
- SAP simplification database
- Performance optimization for HANA

Required Qualifications

Experience

15+ years of SAP experience with strong ABAP foundation
Minimum 3-5 full-cycle S/4HANA brownfield conversions (system conversion projects)
Proven experience in:
- SPAU/SPDD handling
- ATC-based code remediation
- Simplification item resolution
- CVI and data model changes
Experience leading large-scale ECC landscapes with heavy customization

Technical Expertise

Deep expertise in:
- ABAP (classic + ABAP for HANA)
- CDS Views, AMDP, performance tuning
- Enhancement frameworks (BAdIs, user exits, implicit/explicit enhancements)
Strong understanding of:
- S/4HANA architecture and simplifications
- Integration patterns (IDocs, APIs, middleware)
- Fiori architecture and enablement
