Role Overview
Seeking a Cloud Desktop Engineer to support enterprise cloud desktop platforms and modern workplace infrastructure. This role focuses on the design, deployment, and operational support of cloud-based desktop environments, helping transition users from legacy VDI infrastructure to scalable, secure cloud desktop solutions.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong experience supporting enterprise virtual desktop platforms, optimizing performance and user experience, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable desktop services in a cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on engineering and operational support for enterprise cloud desktop platforms.
- Design, deploy, and maintain cloud-based virtual desktop environments aligned with enterprise architecture and security standards.
- Support migration initiatives from legacy VDI environments to modern cloud desktop platforms.
- Administer and optimize desktop virtualization platforms such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, or similar technologies.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure a stable and responsive end-user experience.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to virtual desktop infrastructure, connectivity, and desktop performance.
- Partner with infrastructure, networking, and security teams to ensure desktop environments align with enterprise policies and compliance requirements.
- Participate in change management activities, platform upgrades, and environment maintenance.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
- Identify opportunities to automate operational tasks using PowerShell or other scripting tools.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance desktop platform reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years supporting enterprise desktop infrastructure or virtual desktop platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or similar VDI technologies.
- Experience supporting cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure.
- Strong understanding of networking, identity, and security concepts within cloud desktop environments.
- Experience troubleshooting complex desktop, infrastructure, and connectivity issues.
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation and operational tasks.
- Experience working in enterprise production environments supporting large user populations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and operations teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting large-scale cloud desktop migrations or modernization initiatives.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform.
- Experience working within enterprise change management or ITIL processes.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty or Citrix certifications.
