General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS' expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

Our Space Systems team is looking for an experienced engineering team lead for our Space Systems Verification Department. In this role you will lead the System Verification team, ensuring the successful manufacture and verification of GA-EMS developed space systems with their associated ground and launch systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise the system verification department, overseeing day-to-day activities, planning, and the development and execution of system verification artifacts.
    • Supervise system verification development across programs to ensure system and segment level verification & validation plans meet program statement of work, CDRLs, and requirements.
    • Support defining verification architecture, verification tools and support equipment required for conduct of system-level verification.
    • Support development of system and segment verification scenarios to ensure system design is fully verified.
    • Support customer engagements and related engineering mission architecture and analysis products to shape the verification effort at the mission level and provide guidance at lower levels of abstraction.
    • Actively contribute to program execution by stepping in as a team lead or individual contributor, as needed, to address challenges and ensure operational success.
    • Drive continuous improvement in system verification processes and capabilities to enhance efficiency and reusability.
  • Coordinate and manage system verification resources to ensure the department is staffed with personnel possessing the appropriate skill mix to achieve program staffing needs and meet cost and schedule requirements.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, mentorship, and direction to system verification staff.
  • Support the preparation, review, and approval of cost and resource estimates for proposals and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) related to system verification activities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide regular feedback, and implement development plans for direct reports to foster professional growth and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Opportunities will arise to support internal development and new business opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Hands on experience with satellite ATLO, including environmental verification, is desired.
  • Demonstrates extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
  • Familiarity with the following tools is desired: Cameo or Magic Draw, DOORS, Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Must have active TS clearance and be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance.
