OverviewWe are seeking experienced
ISP Technicians to support a Network Engineering team across a wide range of hub migrations, POP upgrades,
new device installations, and backlog infrastructure projects. Technicians will work directly with Network Engineering leadership and designated technical
leads to execute critical Layer 1 and device installation tasks in hub, headend, and central office environments.
This is a hands-on, field-based role that supports the integrity and stability of a service provider network. Technicians must be comfortable working around core
network equipment in high-availability environments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform rack & stack, cabling, labeling, and physical installation of network gear.
- Conduct and validate fiber testing (OTDR, power meter, light loss testing).
- Support customer migrations between network devices with zero service interruption.
- Install and seed new optical transport and routing equipment in hubs/headends.
- Follow and execute MOPs (Methods of Procedure) accurately.
- Enter configuration commands into Ciena, Cisco, and other network platforms (configs provided).
- Work closely with Network Engineering on hub/POP migration tasks.
- Update documentation and support ticketing workflows as needed.
- Travel throughout NJ, CT, Westchester, Long Island, and various POP locations.
Required Skills & Experience- Experience working in Hub / Headend / Central Office environments.
- Background supporting service provider or carrier-grade networks.
- Proficient with:
- Optical transport gear: Ciena, Adtran, Lucent, Cisco, Juniper
- Physical installation (rack/stack, cabling, grounding, power)
- Strong fiber testing and Layer 1 troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to execute detailed MOPs.
- Ability to enter CLI configuration into network devices (training + configs provided).
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required for travel.
- CCNA-level knowledge helpful (cert preferred but not required).
Preferred Experience- Prior work in service provider POPs, headends, carrier hotels, or technical hub sites.
- Exposure to optical transport, Ethernet backhaul, and core routing platforms.
- Experience supporting network migrations or customer cutovers.
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS, Ciena SAOS, Junos, or similar command-line environments.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
