MRO Engineering Manager

We have an immediate opening for an Engineering Manager to lead engineering and quality functions at a regional service center for a profitable division of a Multi-Billion publicly traded diversified manufacturer. This role is responsible for managing all technical activities supporting inspection, repair, and overhaul of complex rotating equipment, ensuring high-quality execution and on-time delivery for customer commitments.


The Engineering Manager will serve as the technical leader on-site, partnering closely with operations, sales, and supply chain while also collaborating with the broader global engineering team. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on customer satisfaction, operational performance, and technical excellence.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leads and develops the Regional Service Center engineering team, providing guidance, coaching, and technical direction.
  • Oversees all engineering and quality activities associated with inspection, repair, and overhaul of rotating equipment.
  • Directs teardown evaluations, determining failure modes and defining scope of repair for customer equipment.
  • Ensures all engineering outputs meet company standards, customer specifications, and AGMA requirements.
  • Drives execution of high-quality, on-time inspection and repair services across all projects.
  • Performs reverse engineering activities as required to support repair and manufacturing processes.
  • Reviews and interprets customer technical requirements to ensure alignment with project execution.
  • Acts as key technical liaison across sales, supply chain, operations, and external suppliers.
  • Partners with shop personnel to support execution of complex repair and rebuild projects.
  • Oversees assembly, testing, and final inspection processes to ensure quality and delivery commitments are achieved.
  • Provides technical reports and documentation in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Leads project management efforts for breakdowns, technically complex repairs, and high-value orders.
  • Supports customer service functions with estimating, technical input, and project status updates.
  • Ensures responsiveness to customer needs, including participation in customer visits and technical presentations.
  • Provides technical oversight for subcontracted work performed by external vendors.
  • Maintains accuracy and integrity of engineering reports, data packages, and documentation.
  • Oversees quality control activities, including calibration, corrective actions, and audit compliance.
  • Collaborates with the global engineering organization to drive best practices and continuous improvement.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Will consider Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, etc
  • 12 15+ years of experience in rotating equipment design, engineering, or repair (gearboxes, power transmission systems, or similar).
  • Strong proficiency in CAD and general PC-based engineering tools. Solidworks experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering teams within a service, repair, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of inspection, repair, and overhaul processes for industrial equipment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with sales, operations, and supply chain teams.
  • Comfortable interfacing with customers and delivering technical presentations.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (<10%) for customer visits and company training.
