Network EngineerLocation: Columbia, MarylandExperience Level: IntermediateAbout the RoleAs a Network Engineer at , you'll play a critical role in building, operating, and optimizing enterprise-grade network infrastructure for our clients. You'll work in an agile delivery environment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and take ownership of high-impact technical work while mentoring junior engineers.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on networking, troubleshooting complex environments, and driving operational excellence across modern enterprise infrastructures.
What You'll DoNetwork Operations & Engineering- Build, operate, and support enterprise network infrastructure across data centers, branch offices, and remote environments
- Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, wireless LAN controllers, and access points
- Perform IOS upgrades, L2/L3 configurations, VLANs, and full device builds from scratch
- Support WAN technologies including MPLS, SD-WAN, DMVPN, GRE, and IPSec tunnels
- Implement and support High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup, and Restore solutions
Monitoring, Security & Reliability- Monitor client infrastructure using enterprise monitoring tools
- Perform patching, vulnerability remediation, and backup operations
- Troubleshoot network performance issues (QoS, latency, jitter, bandwidth utilization, traffic shaping)
- Support Identity & Access Management solutions (AAA, TACACS, RADIUS, Cisco ISE)
- Work with ISPs to troubleshoot link issues, outages, and new circuit turn-ups
Service Management & Collaboration- Own and manage tasks through ServiceNow (SNOW), dashboards, and order forms
- Follow ITIL/ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Task)
- Coordinate with architects, SMEs, application teams, and onshore/offshore resources
- Understand and operate within SLA, SLO, and SOW commitments
Automation, Documentation & Knowledge Sharing- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks
- Maintain documentation, KB articles, and weekly/bi-weekly status decks
- Train and mentor junior team members
- Participate in on-call support on a rotational weekend basis
Required QualificationsCore Technical Skills- Hands-on experience with routers, switches, wireless controllers, and access points
- Bonus: F5 LTM, Cisco ISE, APC UPS network management
- Strong knowledge of Core, Distribution, Access, and Edge network layers
- Experience with routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
- Experience with LAN/WAN technologies and enterprise network architectures
- Strong troubleshooting skills across L2/L3 networking
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing tools
- Experience managing DHCP, DNS (Windows or Infoblox), SFTP/TFTP
- Familiarity with monitoring and analysis tools:
- Examples: SolarWinds Orion, Cisco Prime, Nagios, OpManager, NetFlow tools
- Working knowledge of:
- NTP, SNMP, Syslog, 802.11, 802.1x, ACLs, NAT, Port Security, Port Mirroring
Wireless & Security- Troubleshoot wireless issues including:
- WLC code upgrades, AP join issues, client association/authentication, guest wireless
- Operational troubleshooting of Cisco ISE and supplicant-related issues
Tools & Technologies (Exposure or Hands-On)- Wireshark, Debugging tools, EEM
- Python or network automation concepts
- Cisco ACI, SD-WAN (Viptela, VeloCloud), SASE technologies
- Palo Alto or other enterprise firewalls
Certifications- CCNA or CCNP (Associate or Professional level)
- ITIL certification preferred
- Additional Cisco certifications (Wireless, CCIE) are a plus
Nice to Have- Understanding of application and infrastructure monitoring tools
- Exposure to virtualization platforms
- Broad understanding of end-to-end enterprise infrastructure landscapes
Education- B.E. / B.Tech / M.C.A / M.Sc (Computer Science) or equivalent from an accredited university
