Job Title: Azure Architect
Location: Raleigh, NC

Experience required: 8-12 years in Azure architecture and migrations.

Job Summary:
A seasoned Azure Architect responsible for leading application and workload migration discovery, assessment, planning, and execution governance. Partners with application owners, security, and operations teams to collect technical and business inputs, determine migration readiness, choose migration approaches (rehost, refactor, retire, retain), define migration waves and sequencing, and manage risks, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.

Key responsibilities:

• Design Azure subscriptions and landing zones following Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and Azure Well-Architected Framework.
• Conduct discovery, assessment, dependency analysis, and create migration waves using Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Database Migration Service, AzCopy or similar tools.
• Produce discovery/assessment reports with PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Python.
• Implement monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
• Automate build and release pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Use Azure Arc to manage hybrid resources.
• Build and validate application inventory; capture workload criticality, SLAs, and environment details.
• Perform migration assessments: dependency mapping, sizing, licensing, constraint identification, and blocker remediation.
• Define workload-specific migration strategies with clear rationale, risks, and effort assumptions.
• Develop a migration factory operating model covering intake, assessment, wave planning, cut-over management, and reporting cadence.
• Migrate various Azure services, including Virtual Machines, SQL databases, and Storage accounts.
• Design for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Document assessment outputs, target migration approaches, and dependency diagrams.
• Assess legacy Azure tenants retained for legal hold/retention and define long-term retention strategies.
• Work with Microsoft Dynamics and Azure Arc migrations.
• Preferred certifications: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate.
