Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Senior Scientist - Lab Automation and Robotics for an Onsite position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is a 3-4 month contract opportunity with possibility of extension. We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Scientist with strong experience in lab automation/robotics and molecular biology for a fast-paced protein engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have a balanced skill set spanning both wet-lab experimentation and data analysis, with experience in Bioinformatics being highly desirable. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, high accountability, and the ability to work independently to support and validate automated workflows.
Responsibilities: - Plan, conduct, monitor, analyze, and document experiments with limited supervision
- Follow established experimental designs and protocols to generate robust, reproducible, and reliable data
- Adapt methods from scientific literature for lab implementation and modify as needed
- Develop and implement new protocols with moderate review for automation integration
- Interpret data (NGS sequencing data) and communicate findings clearly to the work group
- Participate in scientific discussions and contribute to problem-solving efforts
- Develop systems and practices to ensure high-quality data generation and organization
- Operate, troubleshoot, and optimize standard laboratory equipment and major instruments/techniques
- Resolve experimental and equipment-related issues effectively
- Contribute to reports, presentations, publications, and regulatory documents as needed
Requirements: - Doctorate degree (PhD/PharmD/MD) and 2 years of experience OR Master's degree and 5 years of experience OR Bachelor's degree and 7 years of experience in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field
- Strong background in molecular biology
- Experience with laboratory automation and robotics
- Hands-on experience with automated liquid handling systems and robotic workflows
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Experience independently conducting and troubleshooting laboratory experiments
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental data effectively
Desired skills: - Experience with Bioinformatics
- Balanced experience in both wet-lab work and data analysis
- Experience with Hamilton liquid handler scripting is highly desirable
- Python scripting experience is desirable
- Familiarity with automation workflows in a research or development environment
- Exposure to machine learning
Pay range: up to $49.20 per hour
