The Opportunity

This role puts you at the heart of distribution center operations-where technology, problem-solving, and fast decision-making come together. As the DC Technical Support Specialist, you'll be the go-to technical expert ensuring our warehouse systems, equipment, and controls stay up and running. You won't just respond to issues-you'll anticipate them, investigate root causes, and help build long-term solutions that keep operations moving.

Your work directly impacts our ability to serve stores and customers-making this a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who thrives in a dynamic distribution environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Operational Support & Troubleshooting
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical resource for distribution center systems and controls
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with:
    • Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
    • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
    • Conveyor and sortation systems
  • Independently diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and system issues to keep the facility operational
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend long-term corrective actions

Systems & Equipment Management
  • Support electronic and material handling equipment across multiple DC sites
  • Oversee daily (Monday-Friday) startup of conveyor and sortation systems prior to operations
  • Troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair:
    • Barcode and scanner equipment
    • Print & Apply machines
    • In-line scanners and scales
  • Manage DC electronic equipment inventory

Vendor & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Coordinate with and supervise external vendors for:
    • Equipment calibration
    • Preventative maintenance
    • New or updated equipment installations
  • Serve as the point of contact for facility sound system vendors, including troubleshooting and system modifications
  • Communicate with vendor service teams during incident response

System Enhancements & Rollouts
  • Roll out new WCS peripherals and system updates, including:
    • Software and file updates
    • System access
    • Area display screens
  • Participate in testing and validation prior to release to warehouse teams
  • Configure WMS display screens and system emulators to improve operational usability

Training, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
  • Train associates on proper equipment use, care, and system changes
  • Develop systems support documentation and recommend design improvements
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance to define effective operating and maintenance procedures

After-Hours & On-Call Support
  • Provide on-call support during weekend operations via VPN as needed
  • Support after-hours software installs, system testing, and associate training when required

What You'll Need

Experience & Education (Required)
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience in DC support
  • Experience working with:
  • Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) or Warehouse Execution Systems (WES)
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Print & Apply machines
  • Scanner technology
  • Network configuration and troubleshooting

Technical Skills
  • Strong diagnostic, failure analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with:
  • Logistics systems and electrical equipment
  • DC electronic and AC electrical systems
  • Motor controls and basic conveyor theory
  • LAN/VLAN and wireless LAN fundamentals
  • Wavelink Avalanche or SOTI MobiControl wireless management software
  • Ability to:
  • Create, test, and run Cat5/Cat6 network cables
  • Perform PC repairs and work with Microsoft OS, Office, and UNIX systems

Ways of Working
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable making decisions in high-pressure, real-time situations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible with work hours, including after-hours and weekend support as needed
