SharePoint Analyst

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Analyst to support a critical Personal Identifying Information (PII) data governance initiative. This role will focus on identifying, cleaning up, tagging, and appropriately labeling PII data within SharePoint, as well as data flowing into SharePoint from backend servers. This project is a key step in preparing the organization''s SharePoint environment for the implementation of Copilot AI, ensuring data is properly governed, classified, and secured before AI-driven tools are deployed. The ideal candidate combines hands-on SharePoint administration experience with a strong understanding of data security, sensitivity labeling, and information governance best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform data clean-up of existing content stored across SharePoint libraries and lists, identifying and remediating PII
• Apply appropriate metadata tags to PII data in accordance with established tagging standards and best practices
• Create, configure, and apply sensitivity labels within SharePoint to properly classify and protect PII data
• Review and clean up data flowing into SharePoint from server sources, ensuring proper tagging and sensitivity classification upon ingestion
• Configure and manage SharePoint security functions to ensure appropriate access controls around sensitive data
• Generate regular reports on PII data status, findings, and remediation progress for business stakeholders
• Partner with business units to communicate findings, recommend security improvements, and support ongoing data protection efforts
• Collaborate with IT, security, and compliance teams to align SharePoint data practices with organizational data governance policies
• Support readiness efforts for the upcoming implementation of Copilot AI by ensuring SharePoint content is properly cleaned, tagged, and labeled prior to rollout

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working with SharePoint
• Previous professional experience as a SharePoint Analyst and/or SharePoint Administrator
• Strong working knowledge of SharePoint libraries and lists, including structure, configuration, and management
• Demonstrated experience with data tagging best practices within SharePoint
• Demonstrated experience with sensitivity labeling best practices and implementation within SharePoint
• Familiarity with SharePoint security functions, including permissions, access controls, and data protection features
• Experience working with or handling PII data in a compliance-sensitive environment
• Ability to generate clear, actionable reports for business and technical stakeholders
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with business units on security recommendations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Purview or Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) sensitivity labels
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and PII compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, or similar)
• Experience managing data flows between on-premises servers and SharePoint Online
