Job Description
5+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe application development, maintenance,
modernization, and DevOps transformation with hands-on experience in Git-based
development practices, CI/CD implementation, and Mainframe modernization initiatives.
Required Skills
•Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, REXX, and
Mainframe application development.
•Hands-on experience with Endevor or similar Mainframe SCM tools.
•Experience with Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or other modern source code management platforms.
•Good understanding of zDevOps, CI/CD, Agile development, and Source Code Management practices.
•Experience supporting Endevor-to-Git migration and source code migration activities.
•Hands-on experience with Python for automation, scripting, and tooling development.
•Familiarity with Zowe CLI, USS, IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz), and VS Code for Z.
•Experience in production support, application maintenance, code promotion, and
release management.
•Understanding Mainframe modernization tools, development methodologies, and
DevOps best practices.
•Knowledge of build automation, deployment automation, and Git-based development
workflows.
Responsibilities
•Develop, maintain, and enhance Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS,
DB2, and related technologies.
•Participate in Mainframe Modernization and zDevOps transformation initiatives.
•Support Endevor-to-Git migration activities, including assessment, migration,
validation, and post-migration support.
•Design and implement automation solutions to streamline migration, build, testing, and
deployment processes.
•Collaborate with DevOps, Development, Infrastructure, and Release Management teams to establish Git-based development workflows.
•Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and production implementation activities.
•Assist in CI/CD pipeline implementation and DevOps process improvements.
•Prepare technical documentation, migration guides, operational procedures, and
knowledge-sharing materials.
•Analyze application issues, provide production support, and participate in release activities.
•Contribute innovative ideas and recommendations to improve modernization and migration processes.
Preferred Skills
•Experience with IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB).
•Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD tools.
•Experience with UrbanCode Deploy (UCD) and deployment automation.
•Exposure to Zowe CLI, VS Code for Z, and IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz).
•Knowledge of Git adoption strategies and Mainframe DevOps best practices.
•Experience working on Mainframe Modernization, Digital Transformation, or
zDevOps programs.
•Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, XML, and modern Mainframe integration
frameworks.
