Role: Mainframe DevOps Migration Consultant
Location: Remote (USA)

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe DevOps Migration Consultant to help organizations modernize their software delivery processes by transitioning legacy mainframe source code management solutions to IBM''''s modern DevOps ecosystem. This role requires deep expertise in IBM z/OS environments, Git-based development practices, and IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB), along with the ability to advise clients throughout their migration journey.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent consulting and communication skills, enabling successful implementation, troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer during enterprise migration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end migration engagements from traditional mainframe source code management tools (such as CA Endevor and similar platforms) to IBM DBB, Git, and IDD/Wazi solutions.
• Evaluate existing application development and software change management processes and design an effective migration strategy aligned with DevOps best practices.
• Define and implement modern DevOps workflows utilizing Git repositories, IBM DBB for intelligent build automation, and deployment automation across the mainframe environment.
• Install, configure, and support IBM DBB, Git integration, IDD, and Wazi Deployment solutions within customer environments.
• Analyze existing applications and repositories, perform migration activities, validate conversion results, and resolve migration-related issues.
• Troubleshoot build failures, pipeline issues, repository problems, and deployment challenges across the DevOps toolchain.
• Provide technical leadership throughout project execution while collaborating with client teams and internal stakeholders.
• Create technical documentation, migration guides, implementation standards, and operational best practices.
• Deliver customer workshops, technical training sessions, and knowledge transfer to development and operations teams.
• Assist customers in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving migration and conversion-related challenges to ensure successful adoption.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong background in IBM z/OS environments with experience in application development or systems programming.
• Demonstrated experience implementing or migrating Software Change Management (SCM) solutions within enterprise mainframe environments.
• Hands-on expertise with IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB), Git, IDD, and Wazi Deployment.
• Solid understanding of Git-based development workflows, including repositories, branching strategies, merge practices, and lifecycle management.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, including troubleshooting build and deployment failures.
• Proficiency in writing and maintaining YAML and Groovy scripts for build and automation processes.
• Strong understanding of software change management principles and modern DevOps methodologies.
• Experience installing, configuring, and supporting IBM DevOps tooling on z/OS and UNIX System Services (USS).
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills across build, deployment, and migration environments.
• Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and effectively communicate with technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong customer-facing consulting experience with the ability to manage technical discussions and solution workshops.

Training & Knowledge Sharing:

• Experience delivering instructor-led or virtual technical training on IBM DBB, Git, IDD, and Wazi Deployment.
• Ability to prepare technical documentation, presentations, user guides, and knowledge transfer materials.
• Comfortable mentoring client teams and providing post-migration support to ensure successful adoption of new DevOps processes.

Preferred Experience:

• Bachelor''''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
• 8+ years of experience in Mainframe Systems Programming, Application Development, or related technical roles.
• 4+ years of consulting or customer-facing implementation experience.
• Prior experience with application lifecycle management, software change management, or enterprise modernization initiatives is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting large-scale mainframe modernization and DevOps transformation projects.
• Self-driven professional capable of working independently as well as collaborating effectively within distributed global teams.
• Strong organizational, planning, and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
