Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to develop and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance platform notification services. These services enable customers to receive critical alerts related to the efficient operation of Caterpillar engines and machines.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Java, Scala, Akka, AWS, CI/CD, and microservices architecture, along with proven technical leadership and software engineering expertise.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 8+ years of experience.

• 5+ years of software development experience using Java 8 or above.

• 3+ years of hands-on Scala programming experience.

• 2+ years of experience with Akka technologies, including Akka Streams, Actors, HTTP, and Persistence.

• Strong experience in AWS, CI/CD tools, and microservices architecture.

• Solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable platform notification services using Scala and Akka technologies.

• Independently handle complex application development, technical problem identification, and resolution.

• Develop high-availability, reliable, and distributed software solutions.

• Drive application development initiatives focused on delivering business value.

• Design, implement, and maintain microservices and event-driven applications.

• Deploy and maintain applications on AWS using services such as API Gateway, ALB, NLB, Fargate, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, and CloudFormation.

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.

• Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.

• Perform integration testing and customer acceptance testing to ensure quality, accuracy, and interoperability.

• Collaborate with end users and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve technical issues.

• Mentor software engineers and provide technical guidance and leadership.

• Establish software engineering best practices, coding standards, and documentation guidelines.

• Work within Agile/Scrum teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs using Spring Boot.

• Strong understanding of functional programming concepts.

• Exposure to type-level programming and the ZIO framework.

• Experience with reactive streaming technologies.

• Experience designing and maintaining highly available distributed systems.
