Job Title: Mainframe Developer (COBOL + AI Background)

Location: New York City, NY (Day 1 Onsite Local Candidates Only)
Employment Type: Contract / Full-Time

Experience in the banking or financial services domain required

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS, as well as exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) concepts. The ideal candidate will work to modernize legacy mainframe systems and integrate them with AI-driven solutions to enhance business capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS
Support and enhance existing legacy systems in a high-availability production environment
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML models with mainframe applications
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions
Perform code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning of mainframe programs
Participate in system modernization and migration initiatives
Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards
Provide L3 production support, including incident resolution and root cause analysis

Required Skills & Qualifications

5+ years of experience in Mainframe Development
Strong hands-on experience with:
- COBOL
- JCL
- VSAM
- DB2
- CICS
Experience working in production support / L3 environments
Basic to intermediate knowledge of:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Machine Learning (ML)
- Data processing or analytics
Strong understanding of SDLC, debugging, and performance tuning
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
