Summary

Role: Senior UI/UX Designer
Rate: $50/hour W2
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Hybrid (4 days onsite)

We are seeking a Senior UI / UX Designer to lead the design, evolution, and governance of a global design system supporting large-scale digital experiences. This role will focus on building scalable, accessible, and consistent UI components that enable teams to deliver high-quality user experiences across multiple products and platforms. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, UX, Content, and Brand to ensure cohesive and efficient design and development workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable design system components used across web platforms
Establish and enforce visual standards (typography, color, spacing, layout, iconography)
Create clear documentation including component usage guidelines, patterns, and do/don’t examples
Define and implement design system governance models to ensure consistency across teams
Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and stakeholders across multiple initiatives
Advocate for usability, accessibility (WCAG), and best practices in all design decisions
Support global and localized experiences, ensuring adaptability across regions and markets
Participate in discovery, project planning, and cross-team alignment sessions
Drive consistency, clarity, and efficiency in design and development workflows

Required Qualifications

5–8 years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably in enterprise or large-scale environments
Proven experience owning or heavily contributing to a global design system
Advanced proficiency with Figma (component libraries, variants, tokens, etc.)
Strong experience creating design system documentation and standards
Experience working in Agile environments across multiple parallel projects
Ability to translate complex requirements into simple, intuitive designs
Strong understanding of accessibility standards and implementation
Familiarity with component-based architecture and CMS-driven environments
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams

Preferred / Nice to Have

Experience with design system publishing tools (e.g., Storybook, Zeroheight)
Basic front-end knowledge (HTML, CSS, component frameworks)
Experience supporting design-to-development handoff and implementation workflows
Exposure to global product environments with localization considerations

What We’re Looking For

Strong hands-on experience with design systems (not just product UI work)
Ability to take ownership and drive design system efforts, not just contribute
Portfolio demonstrating scalable systems, reusable components, and documentation
Comfort operating independently and leading high-impact design initiatives

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Design, HCI, Information Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience)
