Location: Zone 1 - NY, NJ, Charlotte (onsite 3 days/week)
Contract Length: 12-month contract (high likelihood of extension or FTE conversion)
Pay Rate: $90 - $96
Top Requirements:5+ years Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent via work, consulting, military, or education.Strong, hands-on Java development experience (modern versions + frameworks).Ability to design and implement high-volume, distributed, real-time data processing systems.Experience with API development, backend architecture, data processing, and system design.Comfort working with AI-enabled development tools, especially GitHub Copilot (1-2 years expected).Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures and system design.Plusses:Automation testing experience (Java test frameworks, Selenium, Cucumber, Python).High-throughput or low-latency system experience in financial services / trading systems.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated test integration, or QA collaboration.Background building automated test scripts for APIs, databases, and functional validation.Performance testing and validation under heavy load.Experience with SQL, Oracle, Jenkins, JIRA, Cypress/Playwright.Job Summary:This contingent Specialty Software Engineer role supports the development of a
next-generation, high-volume trade processing platform capable of handling millions of financial transactions with speed, accuracy, and resiliency.
The engineer will design and develop Java-based components, leverage AI-enabled development tools, collaborate with architecture and engineering partners, and contribute to building a scalable, resilient system for real-time trade processing.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Design, build, and enhance Java components for large-scale, high-throughput trade processing systems.
- Process millions of inbound transactions, ensuring reliability, latency, and performance standards.
- Leverage GitHub Copilot and similar AI tools to accelerate development workflows.
- Partner with architects, product owners, and fellow engineers to design scalable, resilient backend systems.
- Write clean, maintainable Java code and modern API services.
- Participate in technical design sessions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with automation engineers to ensure strong test coverage and performance quality.
- Participate in performance tuning, data processing improvements, and issue resolution.
- Contribute to ongoing modernization efforts of trading systems and frameworks.
