Systems / Hardware Engineer / MDM mobility Engineer

Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer with strong hardware infrastructure, networking, and Mobile Device Management (MDM) experience to support enterprise systems, large-scale hardware rollouts, and lab/testing environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with servers, network equipment, endpoints, POS systems, and enterprise-managed mobile devices across distributed locations.

A CompTIA certification (A+, Network+, or Server+) is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise hardware systems including servers, switches, routers, POS equipment, and end-user devices.

• Deploy, configure, and support Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions for laptops, tablets, handhelds, and mobile devices (corporate-owned and shared devices).

• Manage device provisioning, enrollment, imaging, patching, compliance policies, and lifecycle management via MDM platforms.

• Set up and maintain lab environments to validate hardware, OS builds, MDM policies, and network configurations prior to deployment.

• Perform firmware updates, BIOS configuration, OS-level hardening, and hardware diagnostics.

• Build and manage VLANs, subnets, and support Layer 2 / Layer 3 network troubleshooting.

• Troubleshoot device connectivity issues related to Wi-Fi, VPN, certificates, and MDM policy enforcement.

• Resolve hardware and device compatibility issues; perform root cause analysis for performance or deployment failures.

• Collaborate with IT, Security, and Operations teams to ensure secure, scalable device and infrastructure deployments.

• Support IP camera systems, printers, handheld devices, barcode scanners, and wireless infrastructure at store or site level.

• Maintain accurate documentation for hardware inventory, MDM configurations, network topology, deployment procedures, and test results.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or IT Infrastructure support

• Strong hands-on expertise with hardware platforms (servers, racks, endpoints, POS, mobile and handheld devices)

• Practical experience administering MDM platforms (e.g., Intune, Workspace ONE, Jamf, MaaS360, or similar)

• Solid networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, DHCP/DNS

• Experience supporting Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, or rugged/enterprise mobile devices

• CompTIA Network+, A+, or Server+ (required)

• Experience with HPE, Dell, or comparable enterprise server platforms

• Knowledge of hardware asset management, device lifecycle tracking, and documentation best practices

• Ability to troubleshoot IP camera systems, PoE issues, and wireless connectivity

• Strong problem-solving skills with clear technical communication

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in retail, logistics, or highly distributed enterprise environments

• Exposure to zero-touch provisioning, device imaging, Autopilot, or Apple Business Manager

• Familiarity with firewall management, network monitoring, or CMDB tools

• Additional certifications (Cisco CCNA, Microsoft, Apple, or Linux) are a plus
