Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This Engineering Associate I position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Traffic Engineering. The Engineering Associate I (EA I) is assigned to an Engineer's office and receives on-the-job training. This position conducts traffic studies, develops collision diagrams and identifies crash patterns. Completes other assignments within the Traffic Engineering Section as assigned.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Conduct traffic studies which will include crash analysis and analysis of operational characteristics of existing roadway and traffic control conditions.
  • Complete crash analyses, develop collision diagrams, and offer recommendations to address crash patterns.
  • Under full supervision of a professional engineer, this position will complete a variety of assignments.
  • Attends training opportunities to enhance knowledge and understanding of Traffic Engineering practices, principles, and guidelines.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 4 years of experience in Engineering.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
  • Ability to obtain an Intern Engineer Certificate within the first year of employment.
  • Valid Driver's License at time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Intern Engineer Certification recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions
