Stantec is seeking a CAD Technician to support transportation projects in California. This position requires full-time presence at Stantec's Los Angeles office to foster collaboration, teamwork and strong workplace culture.
Your Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Production CAD Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
- Working with project leads, supporting production of transportation projects including roads, bridges, railroads and others.
- Work efficiently with moderate supervision from engineers or senior CADD staff.
- Receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
- Becoming familiar with client CAD standards and ensuring all drawing production is compliant.
- Maintaining communication with other CAD staff and discipline leads within the organization to ensure consistent practices & standards.
- Participate in periodic CAD staff meetings and technical CAD workshops for CAD staff.
- Staying current with new CAD technology, trends, tools, and practices in the industry through reading technical articles and attending occasional workshops & seminars.
- Regularly reviewing and becoming familiar with CAD standards of both Stantec and Stantec's clients.
- Effective communication skills with managers and team members are important.
QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials - Working knowledge of MicroStation and Auto CAD software
- Some experience with design software such as Open Roads and Civil 3D
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience - Engineering or Architecture Design Degree or Drafting Diploma is desired.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working on large-scale transportation projects (additional experience may be substituted for a diploma or degree).
Typical office environment working with computers at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
