Description:
About the Role
This role provides Components Engineering support for new product design, part selection, and mitigation of DMSMS (Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages) risks. The position involves evaluating electronic components, resolving obsolescence concerns, ensuring qualification of new parts, and collaborating with vendors, procurement teams, and customers. The engineer will prepare part standards, manage documentation, and support production troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform component selection analysis and support new design activities.
  • Identify and mitigate DMSMS risks for electrical and electronic parts.
  • Resolve obsolescence issues and implement counterfeit avoidance practices.
  • Serve as liaison between vendors, procurement teams, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare part procurement specifications and engineering data documentation.
  • Process BOM changes and engineering updates through Agile or Windchill PLM systems.
  • Support part qualification, second-source evaluation, and part substitution.
  • Address component-related quality problems during development and production.
  • Generate customer reports related to components, quality, and obsolescence.
  • Support standardization initiatives and continuous process improvements.


Qualifications
  • Experience with electrical component manufacturing processes and physical property analysis.
  • Background in Components Engineering for electronic components (ICs, discrete devices).
  • Experience with new component releases and qualification processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile or Windchill PLM systems for processing BOM changes.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (8-10 years).
  • Experience in parts selection and qualification workflows.
  • Ability to prepare engineering documentation and process change notices.


Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Knowledge of DMSMS management.
  • Experience identifying component failures, pure tin issues, and counterfeit part detection.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
