Job Title: Application Engineer (Rockwell Studio Logix)

Contract Duration: 6 months
Location: Saint George, UT - On site at client location
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (flexibility required during commissioning activities)
Start Date: ASAP (background check and drug screen required)
Overview

We are seeking a skilled Application Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and commissioning of building automation and facility management systems. This role is hands-on and client-facing, with a strong focus on PLC programming, SCADA development, and on-site commissioning for new facility builds. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, communicates effectively with clients, and takes ownership of system performance from development through deployment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and program control applications for Building Management Systems (BMS) using Rockwell PLCs and Studio 5000
  • Design and configure user-friendly graphical interfaces for BMS and SCADA systems
  • Perform on-site startup, system checkout, commissioning, and programming activities
  • Validate and troubleshoot field devices, controllers, and equipment during point-to-point checkout
  • Develop, update, and maintain Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA projects
  • Create simulation software to test and validate PLC and SCADA applications prior to deployment
  • Execute and document test scripts to verify system functionality and performance
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of PLC and SCADA code before initial customer delivery
  • Communicate project status, risks, and solutions clearly to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and field personnel to ensure successful commissioning
  • Deliver training sessions for end users and support teams as needed
  • Support post-turnover activities, including troubleshooting and issue resolution
  • Develop technical documentation, including installation guides and system documentation
  • Assist with beta testing of new hardware and software solutions
  • Provision and manage servers or virtual machines required for project execution
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Industrial Controls or Automation
  • Strong proficiency with Rockwell PLCs and Studio 5000 (required)
  • Experience developing and maintaining Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation) applications
  • Hands-on experience with on-site commissioning and client interaction
  • Solid understanding of PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system validation
  • Experience supporting or programming HVAC / BMS systems (highly preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to clients
  • Proficiency in software documentation and development standards
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred due to high-voltage environments
