Role: Product Manager, Supply Chain Vendor Platform (Mid-Level)

Duration: 6+ month contract

Location: Enon, OH 45323 (5 days onsite)

JOB SUMMARY:

Role overview

We are building a focused prototype of a home-grown supplier platform to evaluate as a potential long-term path alongside a commercial SaaS supply-chain collaboration platform. The prototype will target an MVP of the capabilities suppliers and distribution partners use today through WebVTS, with an added Container ASN workflow to capture applicable FSMA traceability information.

As the Product Manager, you will bring structure and momentum to a fast-moving effort. You will quickly learn and document current WebVTS workflows—even where documentation is limited—work with business and technical partners to clarify the MVP, and translate requirements into prioritized Jira epics and user stories. You will help the team deliver a prototype for evaluation in January 2027, with clear criteria to compare functional fit, supplier experience, feasibility, and longer-term potential.

What you’ll do

  • Discover and document the current product: Interview users and stakeholders, review available materials, and map the end-to-end supplier and CDC experience. Document the current workflows, user roles, business rules, exceptions, dependencies, and pain points in a concise, usable form.
  • Define the prototype MVP: Establish what must be represented in the prototype versus what can remain out of scope. Assess current WebVTS capabilities such as order viewing and downloading, order confirmation and quantity verification, clean-invoice processing and file upload, CDC confirmation and synchronization, operational and financial reporting, and relevant master-data, calendar, and administrative setup.
  • Shape the Container ASN / FSMA experience: Partner with FSMA, supply-chain, vendor-onboarding, compliance, and technology stakeholders to understand the applicable traceability elements and how they should be captured, validated, and associated with orders and shipments. Where documentation is incomplete, lead discovery, surface assumptions, and confirm decisions with the right subject-matter experts rather than filling gaps with guesses.
  • Turn discovery into delivery-ready work: Write clear Jira epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and MVP requirements. Maintain a prioritized backlog, make scope and dependencies visible, and keep requirements current as the team learns.
  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with the delivery team: Partner daily with design, engineering, architecture, QA, integration, and business teams. Participate in and contribute to agile planning, refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives; remove ambiguity and help resolve blockers quickly.
  • Drive toward the January evaluation: Keep the team focused on a credible, demonstrable prototype and an agreed evaluation plan. Coordinate feedback from representative users and stakeholders, document gaps and risks, and help compare the prototype’s capabilities and tradeoffs with the commercial SaaS alternative without presuming a final platform decision.
  • Communicate clearly: Provide concise updates on scope, decisions, progress, risks, open questions, and tradeoffs to both business and technical audiences.

What success looks like

  • Current WebVTS workflows and MVP boundaries are documented early enough to guide design and delivery.
  • The backlog contains prioritized, testable Jira stories with clear acceptance criteria and dependencies.
  • FSMA-related requirements and assumptions are explicitly documented and validated with appropriate subject-matter experts.
  • The team demonstrates a coherent prototype by the January 2027 evaluation target, including the agreed current-state MVP workflows and Container ASN / FSMA capture capability.
  • Stakeholders can make an informed long-term assessment based on documented capabilities, gaps, supplier and user feedback, and delivery considerations.

What you’ll bring

  • 4+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, or a closely related role delivering digital products in an agile environment.
  • Strong discovery and requirements skills: able to learn a complex existing product quickly, make sense of incomplete documentation, ask incisive questions, and turn findings into clear workflows and requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to write actionable Jira epics and user stories, including acceptance criteria, edge cases, dependencies, and non-functional considerations.
  • Practical experience working with cross-functional agile teams and contributing meaningfully to ceremonies, backlog refinement, prioritization, and iterative delivery.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a team-first approach; comfortable working across business operations, engineering, design, QA, compliance, and external-partner perspectives.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, sound organization, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a time-sensitive effort.
  • A user-centered, evidence-based approach to evaluating product choices and balancing near-term MVP scope with longer-term needs.

Helpful experience

  • Supply chain, retail, food distribution, vendor portals, order management, invoicing, shipment/ASN processing, or delivery reconciliation.
  • Working with regulatory, food-safety, product-traceability, or compliance-related requirements, including translating subject-matter input into software behavior and acceptance criteria.
  • Supplier onboarding or products that support users with a range of technical capabilities.
  • Building prototypes or MVPs to evaluate product direction, platform fit, or user experience.
