Microsoft 365 (M365) Technical Support Engineer
Washington DC (5 days onsite per week)
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Microsoft 365 (M365) Technical Support Engineer to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot cloud-based services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive. This role involves providing technical support, administration, and operational management within the M365 environment to ensure optimal performance and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform M365 administration tasks such as user account and license management.
- Provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 technical support for Microsoft 365 services.
- Manage Identity and Access through Microsoft Entra ID.
- Implement and maintain Security & Compliance policies including Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
- Administer Endpoint Management using Microsoft Intune.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation, reporting, and environment management.
- Troubleshoot issues relating to Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and hybrid solutions.
- Participate in environment migration, integration, and upgrades when necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system functionality and security posture.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2 to 6+ years experience in IT support with a focus on Microsoft 365 services.
- Strong knowledge of Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive administration.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of networking concepts and hybrid identity management.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator
- Microsoft SC-300: Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator
- Microsoft MD-102: Endpoint Administrator
- Microsoft MS-900: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (especially for entry-level roles)
Level 4: Principal Support Engineer / Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Focus on architecture, vendor management, product innovation, and leadership of critical incident responses.
- Architect M365 deployments, migrations, and global tenant configurations.
- Collaborate with vendors and act as escalation contact.
- Evaluate and conduct Proof of Concepts for new Microsoft features and integrations.
- Lead incident management for high-severity outages.
- Define organization-wide standards for data governance, retention, and security.
- Typically requires 7 to 12+ years of relevant experience and advanced certifications such as MS-102 Expert or AZ-104 Azure Administrator.
Additional Desired Skills
- Experience with OKTA Single Sign-On (SSO) integration and management.
