Job Title: Oracle EBS Financials Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Location: Gaithersburg, MD (Hybrid / Onsite opportunities available)
Duration: 6+ Months Contract
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Oracle EBS Financials Subject Matter Expert (SME) to drive functional execution, optimization, and support for our enterprise Oracle E-Business Suite platform. In this role, you will act as the key liaison between business finance teams and technical staff, ensuring financial modules align with organizational goals, compliance standards, and operational workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Leadership: Lead the assessment, design, configuration, and enhancement of Oracle EBS Financial modules (GL, AP, AR, FA, CM, iExpenses, and Cash Management).
Process Optimization: Evaluate existing financial workflows to identify bottlenecks, recommend industry best practices, and implement streamlined automation solutions.
Requirements & Design: Partner with stakeholders to capture business requirements, translate them into functional design documents (BR100, MD050), and oversee technical implementation.
Troubleshooting & Support: Act as the Tier-3 escalation SME for complex financial module issues, root-cause analysis, system reconciliations, and period-close support.
Testing & Deployment: Develop functional test strategy documents, execute end-to-end integration and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and manage deployment cutovers.
Reporting & Analytics: Collaborate with reporting teams to build, validate, and maintain financial reports (FSG, BI Publisher, OTBI, or custom SQL-based reporting).
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 8+ years of dedicated hands-on experience as an Oracle EBS Financials Functional Analyst or SME (Oracle R12 experience required, 12.2.x preferred).
Module Expertise: Deep functional knowledge across GL, AP, AR, FA, CM, and Subledger Accounting (SLA).
Technical Proficiency: Basic understanding of Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, tables, interfaces, and open interfaces/APIs to effectively communicate with technical developers.
Methodology: Proven experience working within AIM/OUM framework standards.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated success interfacing directly with finance executives and business leads.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Oracle Cloud Financials (OCI / Fusion) migrations or hybrid integrations.
CPA, PMP, or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) credentials.
Prior experience supporting clients in government contracting, life sciences, or healthcare sectors within the Gaithersburg/DC metro area.
