Job Title: Workday Payroll & Benefits System Administrator (HRIS)

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Workday Payroll & Benefits System Administrator to support an active Workday implementation and migration initiative. This is a technical-functional HRIS role focused on configuration, system administration, and data flow across payroll and benefits — not a development or project management position.

The ideal candidate is a Workday configurator who understands how payroll and benefits systems interact end-to-end and can execute within a fast-paced implementation environment.


Key Responsibilities

System Configuration & Administration (Primary Focus – ~75%)

  • Configure and maintain Workday Payroll and Benefits modules, including:
    • Earnings and deduction codes
    • Benefit plans and eligibility rules
    • Compensation structures
  • Build and maintain:
    • Workday reports and dashboards
    • Business process workflows and approval routing
  • Support system configuration validation and testing cycles (CIT/UAT readiness)
  • Ensure data accuracy across payroll, benefits, and upstream systems
  • Assist with data mapping and understand integrations (without building them)

Implementation & Data Support

  • Support Workday implementation and migration efforts (Infor Lawson → Workday)
  • Validate configuration workbooks and ensure alignment with system setup
  • Participate in testing activities, including data validation and issue resolution
  • Ensure readiness for go-live and hypercare phases

Business & Stakeholder Collaboration (~25%)

  • Translate payroll, benefits, and compensation requirements into Workday configurations
  • Partner with stakeholders across HR, Payroll, and Benefits
  • Ask clarifying questions and challenge requirements constructively
  • Communicate effectively without being overly aggressive

Required Qualifications (Must Have)

  • Hands-on experience with Workday (non-negotiable)
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Payroll and Benefits modules
    • Workday system administration and configuration
  • Proven experience supporting:
    • System setup, configuration, and maintenance
    • Testing and validation activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday ↔ UKG integrations
  • Understanding of timekeeping flows into payroll
  • Strong grasp of end-to-end HR/payroll data flow
