Summary

DPP is seeking a Systems Programmer III for an opportunity with our client in the healthcare insurance industry.
 
Work location: Hybrid in Columbia, SC; onsite Tues, Wed, Thurs.
Duration: 11 months
Terms: W2 Contract
Work authorization: ; must be able to obtain/maintain a low-level (Public Trust) clearance
 
About the Team:
  • The Database Systems Programmers (DBS) team (4 team members) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and optimization of IBM DB2 for z/OS on the Mainframe platform.
  • Our Database Administrators (DBA) (9 team members) work closely with application teams to ensure database configurations meet business and customer needs.
  • Together, the DBA and DBS teams focus on enhancing system performance, reliability, and resource efficiency.
  • Composed of skilled and motivated individuals, our shared goal is to deliver exceptional customer service through improved product stability and quality.
Responsibilities:
  • This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and optimization of IBM DB2 for z/OS on the Mainframe platform.
  • This role supports critical business applications and enterprise database environments.
  • Responsibilities include DB2 subsystem administration, performance tuning, upgrades and migrations, disaster recovery support, incident resolution, and data movement across environments.
  • This role plays a key part in ensuring the stability, availability, and efficiency of mission-critical systems while providing 24x7 production support through on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience with Mainframe System technologies including Db2, z/OS, SYSVIEW, Broadcom products or other IBM mainframe related products.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
  • Comprehension of advanced data storage techniques, basic database philosophy, database management, and advanced programming techniques.
  • Understand the requirements for maintaining production systems and the effect of systems changes.
  • Solid understanding of currently utilized programming productivity tools and their use.
  • Solid understanding of quality assurance and implementation strategies of systems software.
  • Able to acquire knowledge of programming languages and tools used in the department.
  • Analyzing software specifications for completeness and compatibility with operation systems.
Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other job-related field;
  • OR 4 years of job-related work experience;
  • OR 2 years of job-related experience plus an associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degree.
Required Work Experience:
  • 4 Years IT experience including varied programming experience.
