JOB TITLE: Data Center Technician IDURATION: 6 months with potential extension or conversion LOCATION: ONSITE IN HERNDON VAJob Description:You are a primary resolver for your support team, skilled at troubleshooting and resolving most complex hardware infrastructure issues. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and are able to effectively pass down knowledge of these technologies to junior staff. You have basic to intermediate system administration skills and, where applicable, are able to take on remote system administration tasks working in a virtual team. You have the ability to automate tasks with scripts when necessary. You work autonomously to resolve most support issues. You are able to execute small projects on your own, and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects. You act as the initial escalation point for junior technicians. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved.
Responsibilities - Perform break/fix work, including diagnosing issues and replacing hardware components (drives, memory, PSUs, full server units).
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving cabling, network links, and power connections.
- Provide technical support through email and in person requests.
- Document work performed and track issues in a ticketing system to ensure timely resolution.
- Respond to outages, alerts, and capacity related issues.
- Assist with scheduled maintenance, equipment installs, decommissions, and general data center operations tasks.
Required Skills - Hands-on technical experience with IT hardware or data center equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs safely.
- Strong understanding of basic networking and troubleshooting.
- Experience with ticketing systems and following documented procedures.
- A+ Certification (preferred).
