The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of automated industrial control systems at the Morrisville, PA site. We are looking for someone with a background in process automation of chemical plants using DCS, PLC, SCADA, as well as local control systems. The Controls Engineer will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in all aspects of troubleshooting, programming, and installation of various controls systems. Improve and upgrade control system hardware and software to better integrate operations and collect/maintain process data.
  • Design, develop, and modify process control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and HMI applications. Specify, procure, and troubleshoot instruments measuring pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
  • Create and update required instrumentation and control engineering documentation such as logic diagrams, electrical schematics, line diagrams, P&IDs, and control narratives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware malfunctions to support plant operations.
  • Foster alignment of all instrumentation and control system installations with company and industry standards and safety regulations (e.g., ISA, NEC, OSHA).
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and startup of new control system hardware, software, and instrumentation during plant modifications.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting control system hardware/software and implementing corrective actions with autonomy and team support.
  • Leads efforts to establish engineering design basis, and assists with design documentation (e.g. PFDs, PIDs, equipment and instrument specification sheets, interlock documentation, functional design specification) for both new and existing processes.
  • Experienced in guiding and assisting with loop and interlock testing for new and existing processes.
  • Actively participates in process Design Reviews and Process Hazards Analysis.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, including programming PLC/DCS and local controllers for chemical plant design, operation and process data collection
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards for process control hardware and software (UL listing, NEC, NFPA) as applied to hazardous materials handling and manufacture
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley hardware and software (Rockwell ControlLogix/Studio 5000, FactoryTalk)
  • Ability to develop and interpret electrical schematics such as line diagrams, instrument loop drawings, ladder logic
  • Experience with developing and deploying ethernet based industrial networks
  • Self-starter with the ability to perform well under pressure and continuously changing priorities
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with leadership abilities

Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of controls software including ANEVA PI Vision
  • Experience with Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) elements such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC)
  • Working knowledge of Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and designing and implementing systems with appropriate SILs
  • Understanding of electrical distribution and power loading in industrial control systems
  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools (FMEA, Six Sigma, DOE, etc.) with the ability to use tools for the identification of process improvement opportunities.
  • Autocad proficiency
  • FE Certification or Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
  • Chemical plant operation experience strongly preferred
